Nhan H. Nguyen, 30, was sentenced to 22 months to five years in prison after pleading guilty to felony aggravated indecent assault without consent and misdemeanor indecent assault without consent, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office.
The assault occurred on Aug. 4, 2023, after Nguyen met the victim and lied about his name. Later that night, he climbed into her bed uninvited, forcibly removed her pants and underwear, and digitally penetrated her, despite her repeated pleas for him to stop, police said. The woman resisted physically, cried into a blanket, and eventually called police after Nguyen left.
Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Lapp argued for a state prison sentence, calling the attack a clear case of predatory behavior.
"While the defendant has accepted responsibility today, he certainly did not accept responsibility on Aug. 4, 2023, when he forcefully removed the victim's pants and underwear despite her repeatedly telling him no," Lapp said in court.
Nguyen’s attempts to cover his tracks unraveled after investigators discovered his true identity using social media photos, wiretap technology, and incriminating text messages in which he apologized for the assault, calling himself “stupid.”
Nguyen initially told detectives he thought the assault was “allowed” but later admitted, “I should have stopped.”
Judge Dennis Reinaker handed down the sentence on Monday, calling Nguyen’s actions “deeply disturbing.”
